“Flamboro Machine Shop, Rachel Speaking”
We’ve hired FOUR new members of the team! John’s second daughter, Rachel, will be joining FMS at the start of May. She is a package deal, as her three dogs will also be joining us most days. You’ll find Oliver the dachshund hunting all day in the gardens, Raven the great dane lounging in the sun, and Gabby, the other great dane, presumably wreaking havoc around the shop. Rachel comes to us with a background in accounting and finance so we’re excited for her to join the team and learn the ropes in the machining industry!
Rachel’s position at the company will be temporary, as her sister Lindsay will be returning from mat leave sometime near the end of 2019. At that time, Rachel and her husband Terry will be gearing up to open their own company. Through 2019 they will be transforming a barn on their property near Carlisle and opening The Ridge, a luxury dog daycare and kennel. The Ridge will also open a loft where clients can come to work remotely with their dog! If you’d like to follow updates on their progress, you can follow @theridgekennels on Instagram or The Ridge on Facebook.

We love the people that we work with on a daily basis. One great company that we couldn’t live without is Allaris. They provide all of our organization, and help us work towards less paper waste. We are nearly paper free in our office!
With Allaris we are able to track our jobs, drawings and files, employee hours, machine time, purchasing, sales,… you name it, they track it! They’ve saved us a lot of lost time and forgotten work over the last few years by keeping everything in one place. It’s also great to have historical data from 3 years prior that is easily searched and referenced. They’ve completely customized their services to our company.
We highly recommend them to help your business get organized. Their motto suits them perfectly, “Gain Control Of Your Business!” Visit them here and let them know we sent you: Allaris Website
We would like to thank EVERYONE who came out to support our 25th Anniversary Celebration! We estimate about 250 people dropped in throughout the day and evening. The party was a great success, and we thank each and every one of you for being a part of this business!
A little History:
Back in 1992, John started his own machining business in a little shop out behind his house. At that time, John and Lee lived at 1024 Brock Road. John did machining in the evenings, after his full time job, and Lee worked as a nurse by night, and a book-keeper by day. Things were always busy, and it wasn’t long before John took the huge risk of quitting a full time job and going completely out on his own with FMS.
They eventually outgrew the little shop and moved up the road to 952 Brock Road into a bigger building. But it wasn’t long and they had to build onto this building to make more space as they expanded.
FMS is still located here today, with many upgrades and new machines over the years. John’s daughter and son-in-law, Darren and Lindsay McLennan, and his son Eric Van Wyngaarden all work within the company, as well as a wonderful staff you can read about in the About Us page.
We are very blessed to have had this many years, and hope for many more to come!
